We’re recruiting a Quantity Surveyor


Langley Construction Consultants Ltd is unique in that we work across the entire spectrum of the construction industry across multiple sectors for developers, end user clients, contractors and subcontractors from cost plan stage to final account and dispute resolution. 


We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor. This role could suit an assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking to take the next steps in their career. You may have been running your own projects or shadowing or assisting a senior or project QS. You could be from either a Contractor, Sub-Contractor or PQS background. This role would suit someone who wants to further their career across a broad range of sectors and is keen to achieve MRCIS status. 


You would mainly work from modern offices in Watford, Herts but also from client’s offices and be required to make site visits. Our work is mainly in the London and South-East regions. 


Minimum experience required

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • JCT contracts
  • NRM2 measurement
  • preparing monthly valuations for sub-contractors or main contractors, or reviewing the same if working for a PQS practice
  • measurement of works from drawings (take offs) and preparing schedules of works or works or bills of quantities
  • preparing and pricing of variations
  • procurement and tendering of works
  • estimating
  • general construction works experience, rather than civils experience


Desirable experience but not essential

  • use of CAD measurement software
  • SMM7 measurement
  • NRM1 cost estimating experience
  • preparing prolongation or delay and disruption claims
  • experience of adjudications
  • CVR reporting of project cash flow and profit / loss forecasting
  • issuing delay notices


Personal skills and qualities

  • attention to detail
  • willing to work as part of a team
  • willing to learn (We are committed to CPD for our staff and offer external training and seminar attendance) 
  • flexibility / adaptability in the type of work 
  • happy to work from a client office for 1 or 2 days per week or visit sites
  • professional especially when representing the company with clients
  • driving licence
